Pace picks up…..

Today was a good day on a number of accounts:
– The topography flattened out into Karoo style lone koppies
– There was no snow or rain
– Andre and I tested our ‘racing legs’
– First of many +130km days was comfortable

From Kranskop we took a small portage over a nek and through a pan to the district road. The standard route style for this section of the route is to connect multiple farms via district then their access roads. This we did for 135km today which took just over 11 hours. Today was a relatively flat stage with 1995m of alt gain.

Again the folks along the route were superb. Fantastic soup at Brosterly giving some shelter from the ‘on the nose’ howling wind.

Tonight at Romonsfontein we were treated like family and fed like kings. Its a 6am start for a long but not too strenuos portage up Aasvoel Berg, then 120km into Elandsberg. From there the stage distances shorten so the plan for Andre and I is to cut back on sleep and do multiple stages in one go.

Good night all, esp my Tash x
